Akhirnya hari Sabtu kemarin kesampean juga nonton film underdog – I mean, low budget – tapi sanggup memenangkan oscar dan mendapat pujian dari banyak kalangan ini. Sebenernya agak ngeri juga sih milih film ini, karena tau sendiri kan, film-film nominasi penghargaan-penghargaan gitu seringnya aneh, susah dimengerti. Udah gitu, nontonnya di Blitz pulak, tiket mahal + film jelek kan sayang banget 😛 hehehee

Anyway, ternyata semua ketakutan itu terpatahkan. Film ini benar-benar memberi lebih dari yang diharapkan, meski pada beberapa saat gue sempet bingung lagi nonton di bioskop atau nonton tayangan Who Wants to be A Millionaire versi India.

what to wear?

mini is having his thesis examination tomorrow. I’ll be there to support him and I’ll drive him to campus. The thing is, he’ll be wearing a formal clothes. A long-sleeved cotton shirt, probably with a tie and a black trousers. I’m having a hard time deciding what to wear to match his outfit. But I’ve made a list. Here it goes…

Lokasi: toilet khusus perempuan yang dipenuhi oleh perempuan-perempuan yang sedang berdandan di pagi hari.

Temen 1: (Penuh nafsu) Mba mba, udah ditelpon penjahit X belum? Gimana sih, kan janjinya Jumat kemarin.

Temen 2: Iya ih. Janjinya sih Jumat kemarin, tapi kayaknya dia ada keperluan, jadi diundur. Aku kemaren coba telpon sih, tapi ga diangkat.

Temen 1: (Tambah nafsu) Iya! Pertamanya aku telepon juga ga diangkat. Akhirnya aku telepon ke nomer esia-nya aja. Eh diangkat! Dia bilang lagi di Padang.

Temen 2 & beberapa teman lainnya: Ohhh gitu, pantes ajaa dia ga bisa dateng…

Temen 1: (Nada kesal) Masa iya sih kalau lagi di Padang bisa terima telepon dari hp esia. Esia di Padang kan harusnya ga bisa dipake. Ihh, aku ga tau deh dia bohong atau gak.

Temen 2: Iya juga yaa.. Tapi masa iya sih dia bohong.

Temen 3: (dengan nada polos) Bener kali, dia lagi di Padang. Restoran Padang!

Gue: DANG!

People who said that first time of everything is the most memorable one, well they’re wrong. When I first watched the movie, I was bored to death and wondering why do everyone recommend this movie. Last night was my second time watching this movie and I know those people’s point of view. I love this movie to bits! Here is one of my favorite lines.

Human Trafficking

Every Thursday night at Star World, there’s an interesting serial about Human Trafficking titled as – well – Human Trafficking. It was starred by several well-known artists; Mira Sorvino and Donald Sutherland to name a few. Last night was my first time watching the serial and I wished I could watch more series in the nights to come. The serial shows how these criminal transport women from one country to another, made them stay in a house with minimum sanitization and sell them to several prostitute houses or forced them to act in a porn movie.

As audience, it might cross our mind to why this group of woman didn’t just collaborate and fight back the criminals who held them hostages. This group of woman outnumbered the bad guys. But in reality, is it that simple? Consider the fact that these bad guys hold guns?

In the real world, victim of human trafficking isn’t always woman, it also happens to babies, children and man. I think, any form of transporting, laboring, slavery against the person’s own will could be classified as Human Trafficking (for definition, go to wikipedia or humantrafficking.org). As long as there’s demand for cheap labors, sex-slaves and babies, there will always be supply. The lack of regulation and supervision has made this worse.

However, the issue has made me wonder: was it the demand for sex-slave and porn-movies that triggers the issue? Or was it the economical condition that left these women with no choice besides selling their bodies and give sexual services to those who seek for them? Was it demand meets supply? Answering this is like solving a riddle on which one was born first, an egg or a chicken that produce egg. But from my personal point of view, no one likes to do something they don’t like. And I don’t think being a sex-slave or porn movie star was something they prefer to do.

One thing we can learn from this movie is to be careful and take care of ourselves and loved ones. And pray to Allah to protect us from any bad things that threaten our lives, our ancestors and descendants. And to hope that the victims will see a bright light anytime soon. Amiin…

And for those who keen on watching porn movie, remember that the scenes you’re watching might be a living proof of the end-result of human trafficking.

to this blog. Because I accidentally deleted wordpress files on my blog. And it turns out that I forgot to pay the hosting fee and I feel lazy to do all that, so I switched back.
